These are the terms I gleaned from my various glossaries. If you see an error or want to add to one, please let me know.

One technical note. The human names are listed formally. So, Jon Ryan = Ryan, Jon. Then it’s placed alphabetically under “R.” For alien names, I just list them as is. So, for example, Calran Klug = Calran Klug and is listed under “C.”

Ablo: Led Uhoor to attack Azsuram after Tho died. Female.

Adamant: The lead villain species in the Galaxy on Fire series. Think triple-size Border collies that tend to stand on two paws. Very industrious, but quite ruthless.

Add-Time: The reverse of no-timing. Used by Plesmus to kill the Void phantoms.

Agatcha: Traditional Deft stew.

Al: The ship’s AI from Jon’s initial Ark 1 flight. Jon kept Al with him until his dying day, and then it and even after the re-humaned Jon dies, Al elected to hang around. Good AI! Full name is Alvin. Those engineers and their lame naming.

Al Junior: The pet name Jon gave to a low-level AI aboard the Adamant mothership that aided in his escape.

Algos: Ancient Greek for pain. See three demons of Kaljax.

All That Gooho-moor: Commander of a Void ship Meaningless Nothing. One of many who failed to kill Jon.

Almonerca: Daughter of Fashallana, twin of Noresmel. Name means sees tomorrow.

Alpha Centauri: Fourth planetary target on Jon’s long solo voyage on Ark 1. Three stars in the system: AC-A, AC-B, and AC-C (aka Proxima Centauri). AC-B has eight planets, three in habitable zone. AC-B 5 was initially named Jon by Jon Ryan until he met the falzorn. AC-B 3 is Kaljax. Proxima Centauri (PC) has one planet in habitable zone.

Als : The original ship’s AI on Jon’s first flight long ago was Alvin. Jon shortened that to Al. When Al was joined to Jon’s vortex in the Galaxy on Fire Series, Al and Blessing fell in love and got “married.” Since then, Jon refers to them combined as the Als.

Alvin: The ship’s AI on Ark 1; aka Al.

Andallisanya: Future Jon and Dontiqui’s daughter. Spoiler alert for Whales of Time!

Anderson, Phil: TV host, sidekick of Jane Geraty. A moron.

Anganctus: King of the Faxél, ruler of Berrill. Mean cat.

Anti-no-time: Such a big word! It was the side effect of the negative time generated by wormholes that were used against the clan. Since clan ships were structured with time energy, negative time deleted what it touched, like matter-antimatter interactions.

Antigods: A group of reclusive, uber-powerful gods. They have been the bane of the Cleinoid’s existence since time began.

Aporthio: Low-ranking sailor with a very Shakespearean name on a supply ship who was badly abused by Garustfulous so he could steal a comm-linkable shuttlecraft.

Apractolith: The proper name of the antigods.

Aramthella: The mighty and ancient time ship that Jon and his team stole from the body maker and the clan.

Ark 1: The subluminal ship Jon took on his very first flight. He was searching for a new home for humankind.

Arktackle: Vice-Chamberlain and high-ranking courtier to Emperor Bestiormax.

Azsuram: Original human name for the planet GB 3. It was the planet Jon and Sapale settled on after they left the human fleet fleeing doomed Earth. They established an idyllic society of Kaljaxians there, before humans join them.

Balmorulam: Planet where Jon was shanghaied by Karnean Beckzel.

Barnard’s Star: First planetary target of Ark 1. BS 2 and 3 are in habitable zone. BS 3 was Ffffuttoe’s home, as well as ancient, extinct race called the Emitonians. See BS 2.

Barren: Head chief inquisitor of the council of seven, Citadel of the Brother-Sisterhood of Time.

Battle of the Periphery: The decisive battle where the combined forces of the free planets along the periphery of the Milky Way soundly defeated the Adamant armada. Of course they were greatly aided by the magical dragons of Nocturnat. Shortened to TBOP.

Beal’s Point: An area of monuments to disgraced Cleinoid gods. All living gods must visit to be made ill so they stay loyal. Yes, it’s nuts but, come on, these guys are gods.

Beast Without Eyes: The enemy of Gumnolar. The devil for inhabitants of Listhelon.

Beauty Itself: A female Praxequat, a member of the ultimate time lord species. She seems to be their leader.

Beckzel, Karnean: Pirate captain of Desolation. Shanghaied Jon.

Beckzel, Kayla : Sister to Karnean and first officer of Desolation. A real looker.

Bellicity: A conspirator allegedly with Festock against Vorc.

Benjamin, Tip: Where’ve I heard that name before? Hmm. Presently, Tip is a student at Georgetown. He was evacuated to Mars as part of the US president’s plan to save a tiny portion of humankind. And they took Tip too?

Berarra Six: Location of a Kaljaxian mining colony. A true shithole rock.

Bethniak: Evil, powerful child-appearing god. A real piece of work. Do not date this girl!

Bin Li: New UN Secretary General after Mary Kahl was killed.

Blant: see Vicito Blant

Blessing: Vortex Cragforel gifted to Jon. Our hero renamed it Stingray because, pronounced in Deavoriath, Blessing sounds to Jon like “crash.” He ain’t flying no crashing ship.

Book of the Adamant: The massive set of books in which all matters to do with the Adamant civilization are detailed. Last known to number well over ten thousand volumes. An OCDer’s dream read.

Braldone: Believed to be the foreseen savior on Kaljax.

Brathos: Kaljaxian version of hell.

Breshwa: A Kaljaxian sworn oath to exact vengeance on someone who done you wrong.

Brevavali: The name of future Toño’s vortex manipulator. He didn’t address him by his name, probably because the name translates as pretty pink shirt. Toño, how shallow of you!

Brindas: High master of Deft tradition and psychic ability.

Brood-mate/brood’s-mate: Kaljaxian terms for husband/wife, respectively.

Brother-Sisterhood of Time: The group of ascetics singularly devoted to the study of time. A very stern and unwelcoming bunch.

BS 2: The planet Oowaoa, home of the highly advanced Deavoriath race.

BUFF: Military talk for big ugly fat fucker.

Burlinhar: Dolirca’s brood-mate.

Cabbray: Member of the Churell race allying to fight the Last Nightmare.

Calfada-Joric: The Deft master brindas on Rameeka Blue Green. Went by Cala also. After the war with the Adamant was over she was given Evil Jon to rehabilitate.

Callophrys: Name taken by Eas-el to fool Dolirca.

Calran Klug: Prime of the Secure Council of the Adamant Empire after Lesset.

Calrf: A Kaljaxian stew that Jon particularly dislikes. Think strongly eucalyptus flavored.

Canovir: Species of dog-like sentients containing the Adamant. Big border collies.

Carol: An antigod. Generally takes the form of a rock being with rattling pebbles.

Caryp: Clan leader for Sapale’s family on Kaljax.

Casper: The name Jon gave to the mysterious ghost who helped him fight the ancient gods. Turned out to be the ghjost of … Spoiler Alert!

Cellardoor Pontared: Woman forced to pretend to be Jon’s wife on Ungalaym.

Central Seat: The official leader of the Ancient God’s conclave.

Challaria: JJ’s brood’s-mate.

Chankak: God figure to the faithful on Mosparo/Revstok.

Channel of Curses: The first barrier guarding Clein.

Charlie-Foxtrot: Military jargon. C-F. It means the same as cluster + fornication (he said euphemistically).

Cholarazy: Planet orbiting Epsilon Eridani. Visited on Jon’s Ark 1 voyage and used as a part of his cover story for his later quest.

Chop-Chop: Galanian representative to the JCFIDAC. In reality, he’s an agent for the Adamant.

Churell: Humanoid species enlisted to help defend against the Last Nightmare. Similar to centaurs.

Circumturus: A psychic houseplant. No, seriously. That’s it. That’s the definition. Now go back to where you were and continue the riveting Ryanverse story.

Ckarloz: One of the main societies of humanoids on Langir. Very robophobic.

Clang-fow Peditit: Ruler of a large tribe of Maxwal-Asute.

Claudus: Son of Erratarus. A vicious cat.

Claxeon Citadel: The central learning location for the Brother-Sisterhood of Time, a shady organization ostensible established to study time. In actuality, they’re more like the time mafia.

Clein: The actual mystical force that gives the Cleinoid gods their power.

Cleinoid gods: Ancient and malevolent mix of gods. They have destroyed many universes before and are eyeing ours now. The five ranks or groupings for their invasion were to be Rage, Torment, Wrath, Fury, and Horror. Cleinoids have existed since time began.

Clinton, President Charles: US President during part of Jon’s voyage on Ark 1.

Clinton, Faith: Descendent of the current family of Clintons. First a senator, later the first president elected in space. Assassinated soon after taking office.

Collins, Sherman: Secretary of State to President John Marshall when it was discovered Jupiter would destroy the Earth.

Combinolators: Some screwy part of the tits-up unit’s time-drive mechanism.

Command Prerogatives: The thin fibers Jon extends from his left four fingers. They are probes that also control a vortex. Can analyze whatever they touch. See Probe Fibers.

Council of Elders: Governing body on Azsuram. Anyone may speak and any adult may join.

Cragforel: A semi-friendly Deavoriath Jon met after he first escaped the Adamant in the far future. He was a huge fan of Toño DeJesus, which served to fry Jon’s bacon.

Crozier, DelRoy: Lieutenant and working in communication on Mars 1.

Cube: Jon’s alternate name for the vortex he captains.

Cycle: Length of year on Listhelon. Five cycles equal one Earth year.

Dagger; aka. Queen’s Dagger: Substancial Jiail-fus is the present dagger, or leader of the Void queen’s personal Six-Killer Guard squad.

Daldedaw: Policewoman on Kaljax, military leader of colonists on Kalvarg.

Daleria: Demigod and innkeeper who Jon and Sapale befriended. She worked with them against the ancient gods as she’d grown to hate them. Eventually married Toño.

Dalfury: Vorc’s right hand, or chief assistant. A demigod of cloudy memories, hence, he has

Dardrode: The slimiest, most underhanded gunrunner, used car salesthing of all times. He ran a chop shop/junkyard Jon dealt with all too often.

Dare Not: Malraff’s home base vessel.

Darfey: Male attendant to Slapgren on Excess of Nothing.

Darfos: Whole Leader and newly appointed to the Secure Council after the purge caused by the defeat of the fleet at the hands of the Plezrite. A friend to Calran Klug.

Davdiad: God-figure on Kaljax.

Death: The longest serving chief inquisitor of the Brother-Sisterhood of Time.

Deavoriath: Mighty and ancient race from Oowaoa. Technically the most advanced civilization in our galaxy. Used to rule many galaxies, then withdrew to improve their minds and characters. Three arms and legs. Basically they live forever.

Deca: One of the witch gods skilled at prophecy. Sister of Fest.

Deerkon: Planet where Karnean took Jon to deliver a shipment. Home of Varrank Simzle.

Deft: A shape-shifting species from the planet Locinar.

De Jesus, Toño: Chief scientist in both the android and Ark programs. Course of events forced him to reluctantly become an android.

De La Frontera, Carlos: Brilliant assistant to Toño, became an android to infiltrate Marshall’s evil team. See also Prime.

Delouse, Dominica Donatella : The eccentric significant other of the robot Miguel Cervantes. Kookie gal with a heart of gold.

Delta-Class vehicles: The wondrous new spaceships used in Project Ark. Real fast!

Des-al: The most powerful of the Last Nightmares remaining. His title is tiere.

Devastator: A chief inquisitor of the Brother-Sisterhood of Time. Very mean, a horrible person. The first one Jon killed.

Di: Coequal head of the Joint Galactic Parliament. Basically an elephant seal with tentacles,

DILLIGAF: Military expression for do I look like I give a fuck.

Dingery: One of several rabbit-equivalent species on Azsuram.

Discombobulator: The heart of the time circuits on the tits-up unit.

Divisinar Tao: General in charge of the defense of Azsuram.

Dodrue: Large aquatic sentients of Kalvarg. They are wiqub, about the size of an orca. Mortal enemies of the Epsallor Kingdom’s vidalt.

Dolfene: Long ago a human world, now controlled by the Adamant. Jon want there to find intel on the Deft teen’s location.

Dolirca: Daughter in Fashallana’s second set of twins. Took charge of Ffffuttoe’s asexual buds. Name means love all.

Dominica: See Delouse, Dominica Donatella.

Dominion Splitter: The name of the transfolding vortex the ancient gods use to transport to our universe. He has a lot of issues and is very conflicted. Actually he’s just a total asshole. Aka. DS.

Dondra-Ulcrif: A brindas long ago who taught Evil Jon/EJ his “magic” abilities.

Dontiqui: Fought as a revolutionary alongside Sapale on Kaljax concurrently with Jon’s very first voyage. Also figures prominently in The Timeless Void series.

Dorcilmas: Wedge Leader Dorcilmas threw his loyalties in with Quildrod to grab power after the emperor and the Secure Council were blown up.

Dovotan: Oxen-equivalent used to pull carts on Ungalaym.

Dr. Sadozi: Sapale’s assumed name when visiting the White House, long before aliens were known to exist.

Dragmire: A co-conspirator in hell with Jéfnoss. In life, one of the home economics gods. She was a Quilamo, an amoeba-like species. An unnice individual each and every day of the week.

Draldon: Son of Sapale. One of Jon’s step-children when Azsuram was being established. The name was widely reused in the future. Twin with Vhalisma. Name means meets the day. Legal advisor to the Council of Elders.

Duncan, Matt: Chief of staff for the evil President Stuart Marshall. Became an android that was destroyed. Marshall resurrected him in the body of Marilyn Monroe. Matt no likey that!

Dusthūmíā: Ancient Greek for despair. See three demons of Kaljax.

Eas-el: Rebellious member of the Last Nightmare. He would lead them into our universe, not necessarily a wise move.

EJ/Evil Jon: The Jon Ryan from the alternate time line who returned in time to give humankind of our time line membrane technology.

Emperor Bestiormax-Jacktus-Swillyforth-Anp: High ruler of the Adamant.

Enterprise: US command worldships.

Ephialtes: Ancient Greek for nightmare and also for the demon incubus that supposedly causes nightmares. See Three Demons of Kaljax.

Epsilon Eridani: Fourth target for Ark 1. One habitable planet, EE 5. Locally named Cholarazy, the planet is home to several advanced civilizations. The Drell and Foressál are the main rivals. Leaders Boabbor and Gothor are bitter rivals. Humanoids with three digits.

Erratarus: King of the Faxél after Anganctus. His flagship is Smell of Death.

Evangiline: Powerful poison extracted from the falzorn.

Evil Jon Ryan/ EJ: As above. Alternate time line version of the original human to android download. Over time, he turned to the darker side of his nature. He studied “magic” under a Deft master.

Excess of Nothing: Emperor Bestiormax’s personal ship. Huge and opulent.

Excessive Splendor: A male Praxequat, a member of the ultimate time lord species (sorry Doctor).

Exeter: UN command worldship.

Falzorn: Nasty predatory snakes of Alpha Centauri-B 5. Their name is a curse word among the inhabitants of neighboring Kaljax.

Farmship: Cored out asteroids devoted not to human habitation but to crop and animal production. There are only five, but they allow for sufficient calories and a few luxuries for all worldships.

Farthdoran: A spiritual leader among the Deavoriath. His disappointment in the moral indifference of his people led him to wish to die. He is the only one to die in millions of years.

Fashallana: First daughter of Sapale. Twin to JJ. Name means blessed one.

Faxél: Name of the fierce giant cat species of Berrill.

Felladonna: Vorc’s second assistant or so called right hand. A demigod of lists and communications.

Felnastop: A delicious vegetable that runs like the wind. Catch it if you can. Bring salt and pepper.

Fenptodinians: Species of jellyfish like multipeds with an advanced civilization recruited by the Deavoriath to fight the Last Nightmare. They are hemaphrodites.

Fentort: Servant in Caryp’s home on Kaljax.

Feroqu: If there were pigs on Kaljax, they’d be called feroqu.

Fessilda: Innkeeper on Ungalaym where Jon stayed on his second visit.

Fest: One of the witch gods skilled at prophecy. Sister of Deca.

Festock: Old friend of Daleria who was part of a conspiracy against Vorc.

Ffffuttoe: Gentle natured flat bear like creature of BS 3. Possesses low-level sentience. Also the name of Alicia and Madison’s very cute cat.

Fire of Justice: A metallic rod given to the center seat as a sign of power. A powerful incinerator also.

Five Races of the Canovir: Adamant, the leaders; Loserandi, the priests; Kilip, the teachers; Descore, the servants; and Warrior, the enlisted fighters.

Flannigan, Devon: Former baker who assassinated Faith Clinton.

Flastor: The planet on which the Claxeon Citadel was located.

Flat Fields of Lame Prey: Adamant version of heaven. Come on, they’re big dogs.

Fontelpo: Bridge officer aboard Desolation. A native of Kaljax. He was demoted after discussing ship’s business with the then newly arrived Jon.

Form One/Form Two: A Form is the title of a vortex pilot. If more than one is aboard they get numerical designations based on seniority.

Fottot: Town on Ungalaym Jon visited after first failed attempt to rescue Deft teens. Went looking for a plan to save the kids.

Fractor: Close associate of Anganctus, third in power. Holds title of Second-Equal.

Fracture: Another chief inquisitor of the citadel.

Framework of Time: One of the two contingent parts of Time. This is the mindless, unstoppable progression part of Time.

Fuffefer: Group-Single Fuffefer. Commander of the detail that supervised Jon’s and Cellardoor’s slavery period.

Gabrielod Jal: Businessdog and relative of the emperor. He was associated with subversives and had to be “interviewed” by Two Paws. A word to the wise: bring plenty of Motrin to all such interviews.

Galan: One of the twelve planets attacked in TBOP. Home to a vaguely humanoid species with four arms and legs.

Gartel: Black market space pilot on Ungalaym. Jon stole his ship.

Garustfulous: Wedge Leader Garustfulous, the second Adamant Jon encountered, after Mercutcio. He was held captive in Blessing/Stingray. Turned out to be kind of a buffoon.

Gáwar: Seriously badass god. The god of demons. Ten-foot long lobster claw front hands. Multiple tentacles serving in place of antenna. Block-shaped bull head. Gáwar’s torso was a snake with human legs. Yeah, badness on the doorstep, I couldn’t take one more step.

Gendo and Proclamate Hegemonies: Ancient civilizations of Disulpf, inside a globular cluster of stars.

General Saunders: Hardscrabble original head of Project Ark.

Genter-ban-tol: Prime Minister of the Joint Galactic Parliament. A Bezathy, basically the Galaxy’s largest snail species.

Geraty, Jane: TV newswoman who had an affair with newly minted android Jon. Gave birth to Jon Ryan II, her only child.

Gloria: The mistake that never ends. Gloria does answer an important question, however. How much tequila does it take to make this woman look good? For the answer, consult Jon Ryan. His first wife when he was young and foolish. If you think of any off-putting personal habit or foible, Gloria has it. Nuf said.

Golem: Creatures animated by the Cleinoid gods. Traditionally composed of mud.

Gollar: Home world of the Fenptodinians.

Good for Nothing, or GFN: Odd brick shaped robot Jon befriended, kind of, on Langir.

Gorgolinians: Fish tank sentients of Sotovir.

Gorhanz: The vortex used by the still-human Toño DeJesus. He then lent it to Still-Human Jon and Tank. The name means Surge of Truth in Deavoriath.

Gorilla Boy/GB: Flippant name given to an AI by Jon. The ship Jon took to escape from Earth to Azsuram. From the planet Zactor on a mission to collect samples.

Gorpedder: Ill-tempered boulder Cleinoid god.

Gortantor: Leader of the Jinicgus at the time of Molly Hatcher and Jon’s mission.

Grand Inquisitor Heldogra: Commander of Adamant forces on Azsuram when both Jons were there fighting.

Grant, Tom: Major, and the officer in charge of the male dormitories on Mars. Now in charge of personnel on Aramthella.

Groombridge-1618 3: Original human name for the planet GB 3 = Azsuram.

Guildencrantz: One of Xyándor dubious henchmen. This one is the irritating, prissy ship’s AI. He speaks in a voice just like Carson Kressley’s.

Gumnolar: Deity of the Listhelons. Very demanding.

Guvrof: Lesset’s right hand dog. One of his few trusted confidants.

Gwyneth: The angel in Heaven with the most dubious job. She’s all Jon Ryans’s guardian angel. Wow, talk about drawing the short straw, careerwise.

Habitable zone: Zone surrounding a star in which orbiting planets can have liquid water on their surface.

Haldrob: Faxél version of hell.

Hani: The absolutely adorable little girl Jon rescued from voracious hyenas in Earth’s past.

Hantorian System: Location of the planet Kantawir. The location where Jon confronts EJ for the final time.

Harhoff: Adamant Group Captain aboard Rush to Glory. He became a key figure in Jon’s quest to rescue the Deft teens.

Harshness: Another chief inquisitor of the citadel.

Hartley, Honesty: Doctor on duty at the student health center when the president had the entire staff transported to Mars. And appropriately there, as she was a total space cadet.

Hatcher, Kendra: Jon’s teammate on his mission to Revstok/Mosparo.

Hatcher, Molly: Captain and Form. Daughter of Amanda Hatcher and Kendra Hatcher.

Hemnoplop: Demigod of Fool’s Island. On pilgrimage to Beal’s Point with Jon.

High Council: The governing body of the Plezrite.

Hijab, Faiza: Major General and commander of TCY, the UN lead defense force, after Colin Winchester.

Himanai: Variant Deft visant. The first to meet with Jon and Sapale on Nocturnat.

Hirn: A Kaljaxian dialect.

His Imperial Lord: Title of Emperor Bestiormax-Jacktus-Swillyforth-Anp. Mirraya shortens to HIL.

Hollon: The complete joining of two Deft shapeshifters. More than marriage.

Horta: A rock creature Mirraya became when confronting the evil force in the globular cluster. Now, where have I heard that name before?

Imperial Lord Emperor Bestiormax-Jacktus-Swillyforth-Anp: Current Adamant emperor.

Indigo: Second and final wife of the original Jon Ryan, not the android. They had five children, including their version of Jon Ryan II.

Infinity-charges: Membrane-based bombs that expand, ripping whatever they’re in to shreds.

Inquisitors: The security personnel at the citadels. The upper-level one were vicious.

Jaccash Bimdulo: Scientist in the Joint Galactic Parliament.

Jackson, Kendell : Major general who became head of Project Ark after De Jesus left. Forced to become an android by Stuart Marshall.

Jangir: The name assumed by Garustfulous when he goes undercover as Harhoff’s Descore.

Kaserian, Jason : Chief assistant to UN Secretary General Bin Li.

JCFIDAC: See Joint Council for Interplanetary Defense and Cooperation.

Jéfnoss tra-Fundly: The first center seat of the Cleinoid conclave and the god of prophecy. He was a very cruel and hated leader.

Jenna: Jon’s childhood companion. They spent summers together at a lake. She drowned one year the day before Jon arrived for the season. She figures prominently in Timeless Void, so keep her in mind.

Jiail-fus: A Six-Killer guard and the queen’s trusted dagger. Her rank is substancial.

Jinicgus: Tiny sausage-shaped natives of Luhman 16a 2.

JJ: Sapale’s first son. Raised by Jon as his own son, whom he loved very much. JJ is short for Jon Junior.

Jodfderal: Son in Fashallana’s second set of twins. Name means strength of ten.

Joint Council for Interplanetary Defense and Cooperation: Group of allied free worlds who fought the Adamant. Remained as a central quasi-UN for the surviving planets. JCIDC to it’s friends.

Jon III and his wife, Abree: Jon’s grandson, via the human Jon Ryan.

Jon Jr.: If you’re a fan since the beginning of the Ryanverse, you know Jon Jr. has come in “many forms” before. This one is Jon and Jenna’s oldest child, a toddler at the time of this tale.

Jones, Sachiko: A graduate student supervised by Tank, swept into the action because she discovered the presence and intent of the hostile clan aliens. Chosen by Aramthella to be the ship’s captain.

Jonnaha: Prime minister of a main country on Vorpace. Agreed to try and form a united defense against the Adamant onslaught heading to their region of the Milky Way.

Julregar: Captain of Berrillian ship Color of Blood after Anganctus.

Juyrot: Junior officer aboard Rush To Glory. Kind of an ass. Picked a fight with Jon.

Kahl, Mary: UN Secretary General at the time of the human exodus from Earth.

Kaljax: The home planet of Sapale. Jon went there on his original voyages.

Kalvarg: The planet Jon took the orphan Kaljaxian population to as the Adamant were destroying their home world. An island solar system long ago ejected from the Milky Way Galaxy.

LGM: Little green men and women. The Adamant replaced native sentient species with LGM after taking over a planet. The LGM are docile and compliant.

Lilith, aka Lily: Second AI on Shearwater. Al no likey!

LIP: Abbreviation for Local Indigenous Population.

Listhelon: Enemy species from third planet orbiting Lacaille 9352. Aquatic, they have huge, overlapping fang-like teeth, a small bumpy head, big, bulging eyes – articulated somewhat like a lizard’s. Their eyes bob around in a nauseating manner. Their skin is sleek, with thin scales. They sport gills, with a slit in their thick neck on either side. Maniacally devoted to their God, Gumnolar.

Slofgrozels: Unpalatable creatures with excellent senses of hearing and smell.A beast as disgusting as it’s name suggested.

Somor falla: A ceremonial headdress the women of Kaljax wear on occasion. It covers one set of their eyes.

Sparkling, Nancy:When we meet her, she’s an aspiring Angel-In-Training of the Novice Class. She’s a bit of an exhausting, stodgy gal, but, please, you didn’t hear that from me. Three demons of Kaljax/Brathos, The: Three legendary evil demons of Kaljaxian lore. The random, the smart, the mean. Quixtiscus, Marsicor, and Lebbuul, respectively. It was Lebbuul that presented to Sachiko as Algos, Dusthūmíā, and Ephialtes.

Three Headed Beast: Devil figure to the Deft.

Thompson, Megan: A young Georgetown University student swept up to Mars 1 when the clan attacked Earth. She became so depressed she took her own life. Desi’s first ghost-in-space.

Triumph of Might: The massive spaceship Mercutcio ruled. Jon first met the Adamant there. It was, in part, an extermination ship.

Two Paws: His actual name and rank is Whole Zarpacious. Prime of the Secure Council ten years after TBOP. Cunning and ruthless, which is to say an Adamant commander.

Uhoor: Massive whale-like creatures of immense age. They feed off black holes and propel themselves though space as if it was water. Recreationally hunt on Azsuram and want no part of Jon being there.

Un-timed: To stop time for an object or region. Basically the same as the second meaning of non-time.

Ungalaym: The planet where Jon went to steal a ship. Populated by humanoids.

Urniquats: Hermaphroditic species allied with the free planets against the Adamant. Very odd creatures. Brains in their chests, four eyes on long stalks where their heads should’ve been. A mouth for breathing and speech under each of their two armpits.

Urpto: The Assistant Subtender for the region of the Kingdom of Epsallor where Jon landed on Kalvarg.

Vacuum Energy: The energy of a complete vacuum. It is not zero, though the net energy is zero. Basically, virtual pairs of opposite particles that blink into existence and then annihilate in a timespan too short to observe. Hey, it’s real. Seriously, I didn’t make this one up.

Vanquish: Another chief inquisitor of the citadel.

Varma, Swathi: Lieutenant, and aide-de-camp to Reva St. Claire on Mars 1. Junior officer aboard Aramthella.

Var-tey: Highest of warrior rankings. The bravest among the Deft. Demigods.

Varrank Simzle: Insanely cruel crime boss on Deerkon.

Varsir: The name of the magical rune Evil Jon uses to do his “magic.”

They have a very high surface enhancement of heavy elements, a relative depletion of hydrogen, and strong stellar winds. Worldships: Cored out asteroids that serve as colony ships for the human exodus.

Wul: God of business and enterprise. Humanoid. Befriended Jon.

Wyvermin: A massive beast of flight, with thin wings spanning nearly a kilometer. Its body, or at least its covering, is indistinguishable from diamond. Their six feet end in innumerable talons each meters long. They fly through the void and are very unneighborly.

Xantrop: Head of the palace guard and a confidant to Anganctus. Rank title is First-Equal.
